Bliss.
Cozumel is bliss.
There is no better word, no other word, to describe it.
The water is crystal blue, the sand is the color of sugar, and I WANT TO LIVE THERE FOREVER.
Prior to the previous day's activities in Progreso, my plans for Cozumel included laying on a beach for a few hours and then finding Carlos 'n Charlie's and seeing if it was as much fun as it was when I was 24, single, and childless. I don't know the answer to that because we never stepped foot in C 'n C's. We had so much fun on our excursion in Progreso that we decided to find a beach party in Cozumel. We decided on Pasion Island and I am oh-so-glad we did.
We were taken to the island by powered catamaran, a boat ride that took 45 minutes. Cutting through the gorgeous waters of the Caribbean Sea . . . it was just fabulous. I chose to sit by the window and was SOAKED by the time we made it to the island. It was worth it, though, because the view was just something else.
There was a storm trying to come in while we were there. As a result, the water was a little choppy and mirky and some seaweed had washed ashore. The water was still gorgeous -- just not quite as beautiful as I remembered from the first time I was in Cozumel.
The excursion provided open bar and and a complimentary "Mexican" buffet. I was expecting, you know, Mexican food. Instead it was (super delicous) barbeque chicken, grilled Mahi Mahi (drool), and french fries with the weirdest tasting ketchup ever. Still, it was mostly pretty tasty.
For the second day in a row, we were complete and total beach bums. I did splash around in the water just a little bit and collect a few shells. Other than that, it was soaking up the rays and partaking in the open bar.
If you're ever on a Carnival cruise that goes to Cozumel, Pasion Island is without a doubt the excursion to book if you're looking for a beach party.
Back at the port
If there was anything at all negative about the excursion it's that it literally took up all our time we were in Cozumel. As soon as we got back to the port it was time to board the boat. We didn't get any shopping - none! - done while we were there. Know what though? Worth it.
